At Providence, we believe church isn’t just a place you attend—it’s a community you belong to. Whether you’ve been following Jesus for years, are exploring faith for the first time, or are somewhere in between, you’ll find a place here to grow, connect, and make a difference.
Take a look around, and get to know us. Even better, stop in sometime, we’d love to show you around.
A community where you can grow in God’s Word, build real relationships, and live out your faith through purposeful service.
Biblical Teaching – Rooted in Scripture. Relevant for life.
Front Porch Community – Where you’re known, welcomed, and loved.
Strategic Service – Serving with intention, loving with purpose.
Join us this Sunday—your seat is already waiting.
Providence Church (On 11-E next to CVS)
125 E Broadway Blvd., Jefferson City, TN 37760
Sundays at 10:30 am
Services start at 10:30 and typically end around noon. Our music is a blend of styles... sometimes it’s a full band, sometimes it’s acoustic, sometimes it’s contemporary, sometimes it’s hymns. We like to change it up.
Sermons are deeply rooted in Scripture, and we usually work our way through books of the Bible verse-by-verse. A typical sermon is around 45 minutes and seeks to explain the text and apply it to our lives.
If you have children, our ProvidenceKids welcome counter is just inside the door, where you can easily check in your kids. They’ll enjoy fun, biblical teaching in a secure and safe environment. All teachers have been trained and undergone a background check.
Children in grades K-5 join their families for the music portion of the service. During the sermon, they can head to a class designed specifically for them, where they’ll engage in an age-appropriate lesson.
Students 6th-12th grade participate fully in the life of the church during our gatherings. They sing, pray, listen, and serve as a part of the church body. Midweek services designed specifically for our middle and high school students are each Wednesday night at 6:30 pm.
We’re all about welcoming everyone, and we don’t focus on what people wear – most dress casually.
That’s a great question! There are all kinds of opportunities to get more involved at Providence. The best way is probably to join up with one of our Front Porch Communities so that you can get to know us a little bit better and we can get to know you!
We aim to be a church built on God’s word, united by genuine relationships, and committed to strategic, selfless service...all to the glory of God.
We do this in three primary ways:
Biblical Teaching
Front Porch Community
Strategic Service
Every week, we open God’s Word together and let it shape our lives. We believe the Bible is more than just an ancient book—it’s the living, breathing truth of God that speaks into every part of our lives today. Our teaching is rooted in Scripture and designed to help you know God, follow Jesus, and live with purpose.
Remember when neighborhoods had front porches where people lingered, laughed, and shared life together? We’re bringing that back. Our “Front Porch Community” is about creating spaces—both inside and outside the church—where relationships can grow naturally. Here, you’re not just another face in the crowd. You’re invited into real, authentic community where you can be known, encouraged, and loved.
We believe God calls us to gather for a purpose: to serve. Every member of our church is intentionally sent into the world to share God’s love in practical, tangible ways. Whether it’s serving in our church family, helping a neighbor, or engaging in our community, we want every act of service to be strategic—meeting real needs while pointing people to Jesus.

Here’s a summary of our core beliefs and doctrines. A more detailed version of this is available upon request or as a part of our Providence 101 class.
God is Creator and Ruler of all. He is one, and exists as Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
God the Father reigns providentially over all things. He is the Father of those who become his children through Christ. His heart is fatherly toward all people.
Jesus Christ is God’s Son. He exists eternally as God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He willingly sacrificed his sinless life as a substitute for human sin by dying on the cross. Three days later, he arose to show his power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven and will return again to reign.
The Holy Spirit awakens us to our need for Christ and lives in all Christians, providing guidance, understanding of truth, and power for holy living. He gives believers spiritual gifts for serving God and secures them eternally. Christians seek to live under his control.
The Bible is God’s very Word. It was written by men under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and is our supreme source of truth and authority. It is inerrant in the original writings and is the infallible truth in all matters. Jesus Christ, the living Word, is the key to interpreting the Bible.
God created people in his own image for fellowship with him. Though created in innocence, our first parents sinned, bringing death to themselves and their posterity. All people are sinners, alienated from God, and apart from salvation through Christ we are eternally separated from God.
Salvation is a gift of God and is received only through repentance and faith in Christ. People are justified by grace through faith, apart from any human work. All true believers, “born again” by the Spirit through Christ, are secure forever and will exhibit evidence of a transformed life.
People will exist eternally either separated from God by sin in hell, or with God through salvation in heaven.
The local church is the tangible manifestation of the universal church, the body of Christ. The ordinances are Baptism (of believers, by immersion) and the Lord’s Supper.
Through spiritual gifts God enables believers to serve each other and the world. “Miraculous” or “sign” gifts are not a necessity for the edification of the church today. Speaking in tongues is not encouraged in church gatherings.
Where we seek to be unified around our Core Beliefs and Doctrines, we recognize there are an array of other topics we find liberty in exploring and discussing. These include:
Both men and women will be welcomed by the leadership to serve in staff positions, lead small groups, lead worship, baptize, teach, and preach. While scripture says that only qualified men will serve as elders/pastors (1 Timothy 3:2 and Titus 1:6), this practice should by no means dissuade women in our church to lead in any other venue and share their wisdom, gifts, and commitment to fulfilling the church’s mission. At Providence, women regularly teach and preach on Sunday mornings.
While political parties aren’t created equal, no political party is the “Christian Party.” If you are passionate about being a Republican or a Democrat, all we ask is that you view your political party through a Christian worldview with a willingness to critique your party where it doesn’t align with God’s heart. Waving a party or candidate banner is not something we do at Providence.
Amil, premil, postmil, mid trib, post trib, panmill? Jesus is coming back, and we don’t know the date or time. When it comes to prophetic literature like Daniel or Revelation, we don’t want to spend so much time deciphering the obscure to the point where we miss the obvious. We’ll talk about it all, but we aren’t looking for uniformity around a particular view, just unity around Jesus.
Old Earth or New Earth? We take a stance that God intentionally created the universe, and we believe Adam and Eve were real historical figures. Outside of that, there is room for discussion and dialogue.
Scripture includes many instances where alcohol is moderately consumed, and it does not prohibit drinking alcohol (e.g. Deut. 14:26; Jn. 2:6-10; 1 Tim. 5:23). Therefore, we are free to drink in moderation. However, Scripture also commands us to be disciplined in order to avoid the sins of drunkenness, alcoholism, violating governmental laws (such as under-age drinking), and becoming a stumbling block to the weak by refusing to love them well by abstaining (e.g. Ecc. 10:17; Eph. 5:18; Rom. 14:21; 1 Cor. 10:23-33; 1 Pet. 2:13-17).
No translation is perfect. We typically use the ESV, but we’ve been known to switch it up some too. If you prefer the NIV, NLT, CSB, NASB, KJV, or other good translations, that’s completely fine!
We are committed to living out the values of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to love God, love others, and share the good news of Jesus Christ.
God has spoken, and his communication to us is reliably recorded in his word, the Bible. We think what God says deserves to be heard and obeyed. It is the authority in the life of the church and its members.
We think the church should imitate Jesus by speaking and living in a culturally relevant way. Our Sunday Gatherings and communication style at Providence are designed to make sense to the wider culture.
We are committed to making disciples as the primary purpose of the church. This happens at every level of our church structure, both within Providence and our ministry outside the church.
We want to unleash people to serve God according to their gifts. Ministry is the task of the whole church, and Providence is full of opportunities to serve. Every member is expected to use their gifts for the glory of God, whether it’s inside or outside the church.
At Providence, we don’t pretend to be something we’re not. We know we are imperfect people that are seeking to become more like Christ. Authenticity is important to us.
We want to make every effort to do all things with excellence. Improving our structure, strategies, and execution is an ongoing task involving the whole church. Change is a constant reality at Providence
